The German Software Cluster Makes Its Debut at CeBIT 2012

Darmstadt 20. February 2012 – With numerous exhibits, the German Software Cluster, winner of the German government's Leading-Edge Cluster Competition, will present itself for the first time at CeBIT from 6 to 10 March 2012 in Hanover, Germany. In Hall 9, Stand F30, visitors can experience the initial results of research projects dealing with the next generation of enterprise software – emergent software – as well as gain insight into the start-up activities and the economic dynamics of the cluster region.

Two years after winning the German government's Leading-Edge Cluster software-cluster-stand cebit 2012Competition, the Software Cluster makes its debut at CeBIT. In accordance with its technological and entrepreneurial goals, the Software Cluster presents itself in Hall 9, Stand F 30, from two different perspectives: on the "Technology" side, the initial results of research projects dealing with the next generation of enterprise software – emergent software – are on display, while on the "Business" side, young start-ups from the cluster region are presented and the business aspects of the software industry evaluated in detail.

For example, the Software Cluster presents as the results of its research a demonstrator for the convenient and distributed remote maintenance and control of industrial production facilities using 3D-visualization, a technology prototype for the enforcement of cross-company security policies or an example of aviation logistics in the digital age using the Internet.

The exhibits come from a variety of partners from the entire cluster region, including the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), the Fraunhofer Institute for Experimental Software Engineering IESE and the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics, the Technical University of Darmstadt as well as SAP AG, Software AG, IMC AG, intelligent views gmbh and ConWeaver GmbH.

On the business side of the Software Cluster stand, the young company audriga from Karlsruhe presents a service for migrating email in the cloud, IS Predict from Saarbrücken exhibits a product for self-learning energy intelligence in the smart home, smart grid and smart production and BSSN Software GmbH in Kaiserslautern displays open standards for permanent and cross-company use of laboratory data. In addition, companies can use an interactive tool to find the right business model for their innovation or learn more about governance and compliance in cross-company value chains.

The Software Cluster's exhibits and co-exhibitors at CeBIT 2012:

  • Cross-application support: an emergent knowledgebase for the workplace
  • Monitoring and mining technologies for the development of emergent software processes
  • Governance and compliance for emergent software: controlling a cross-company value creation chain
  • Enforcement of security policies across corporate boundaries: next generation data control
  • Air cargo logistics in the digital age: Alliance Digital Product Flow
  • Business Model Wizard: find and optimize the substance of your business
  • Declarative 3D for the Web: remote maintenance in the future
  • Become a Software Cluster partner: semantic business portal for cluster participants
  • audriga: email and groupware migration as SaaS service
  • IS Predict - Scheer Group: Self-learning energy intelligence
  • BSSN Software GmbH: the AnIML technology leader

The Software Cluster, winner of the German government's Leading-Edge Cluster Competition, is a unique consortium of software development companies and research institutes in Germany and Europe. It

combines the research excellence of Germany's leading computer science faculties with the economic strength of Germany's largest software companies and the innovative expertise of the many small and medium-sized businesses in the southwest German region of Darmstadt, Kaiserslautern, Karlsruhe and Saarbrücken. This allows research results to be translated into innovative products and services and introduced into the marketplace more quickly.
